NSW Govt's Partner Projects Grant Worth AUD 400,000 to Attract International Students

University of New South Wales’s (NSW) projects are set to share AUD 400,000 as a proportion of the NSW Government’s Partner Projects grant programme. The purpose of this programme is to boost international students' employability, encourage their well-being, and contribute to the revival of NSW's international education sector.

The NSW Government's Partner Projects grant programme will disperse AUD 400,000 to initiatives that will improve the employability of foreign students, foster their well-being, and aid in the revival of the state's international education sector.

As per Alister Henskens, the minister of Enterprise, Investment, and Trade, six projects will be funded by the government'sfunding programme. This will bring together business and the field of international education to improve the educational environment for students enrolling at universitiesin New South Wales.

International education was NSW's leading services export before the Covid-19 outbreak, Sir Henskens said, bringing revenue of over AUD 14 billion and supporting over 95,000 jobs.

International students are integral to strengthening NSW's ties with the rest of the world, benefiting local communities, and providing NSW businesses with a strong talent pipeline that allows them to compete globally.

The goal of this initiative is to strengthen NSW's position as a desirable study abroad destination for international students and to entice more scholars to study in NSW at their top-tier institutions of higher learning.

Every year, NSW enrols more than 37% of all international students to study in Australia. This programme will aid in attempts to showcase their State as a destination for prospective students as well as provide support for current international students who are already a part of NSW.

The FRANK Team CEO Natasha Munasinghe said the funding will allow the business to expand and enhance the variety of student experiences now offered in NSW. Also, this programme will support initiatives to draw in some of the finest students across the world.

NSW's multidisciplinary mentoring programme will be expanded statewide with the aid of this grant, Ms Munasinghe said, giving students access to connections that could change their lives.

Study NSW's Partner Projects have funded AUD 2.8 million across 67 partner projects since their debut in 2014 and have received AUD 8.8 million in industry co-funding.

A total of six Study NSW Partner Projects will be delivered by the following industry consortia and co-investors in 2022-23:

  • Global Study Partners: To increase the number of international students in regional NSW, the international student recruitment company will create a careers toolkit.

  • English Australia (two projects): To assist diversify the sectors from which international students are recruited, the major organisation for the English language sector will carry out research on new global markets. The organisation will also take the reins on an initiative to aid NSW education providers in extending their reach through edtech.

  • The FRANK Team: An initiative to improve international students' communication and entrepreneurial analytical thinking will be led by training provider FRANK.

  • Insider Studios: To assist foreign students in adapting to life in NSW, the media and production company will create an online multimedia-based pre-arrival resource.

  • The University of Technology Sydney: The universitywill lead a project that will assist the placement of international students as volunteers in the community and charitable organisations around Sydney and the region of NSW.
