Overview

Birmingham University was granted the status of a Public Research University by Queen Victoria in 1900. Originally, it started as Birmingham School of Medicine and Surgery in the year 1825, and after the addition of Birmingham Royal School of Medicine and Surgery (1836), Queens College (1843), Mason Science College (1875) and Mason University College (1898) it was finally converted into a university through a Royal Charter. It is one of the top universities in the world and is the alma mater for over 300,000 graduates around the world. Since its establishment, Birmingham University has launched and completed various research projects, andhas its own laboratory. The universitys campuses boast of various amenities such as colleges, hospitals, libraries, laboratories, observatories, residential apartment buildings, canals, railway stations, etc. It was only in 2018 that Birmingham University established an offshore campus in Dubai. It also assists its students with Career Networks, whose key people include Eluned Jones (Director of Student Employability), Sophie Miller (Deputy Director of Guidance and Information) and Sue Welland (Deputy Director of External Engagement).
