SAT is a standardised test accepted by leading the US and other international universities. Top US universities such as Harvard, Cornell, Yale, and Princeton encourage students to take the SAT even if they have gone test-optional amid and post the pandemic. Students planning to study in the USA or any other university accepting SAT scores for undergraduate admissions should first apply for the same via the available options. Commonly, students register for SAT exam dates either through online mode or by mail and select the appropriate test centre.

Step 1: Visit the College Board website and create a student account.

Step 2: Provide all the necessary details from basic information to academic qualifications. Make sure that personal information like name and address should match with the government ID.

Step 3: Upload a picture, which satisfies the uploading specifications.

Step 4: Go through the form again, recheck the answers and eliminate errors. 

Step 5: Submit and log out. Students can take a printout of the admission ticket.

Before opting for the offline option, students can follow these quick steps to choose an SAT exam date via mail:

Step 1: Get a 'The Student Registration Guide for the SAT and SAT Subject Tests’. These are easily available in respective high schools. If not, students can request the College Board to send the guide. 

Step 2: Look for the form on the last page.

You can expect your SAT results around two to four weeks after your scheduled SAT exam date. The College Board begins delivering SAT score reports to the universities and the candidates online once the test result is available. You can also check your SAT scores via alternative methods like paper score reports and receiving scores over your cellphone.

What is the difference between not showing up on the SAT exam date and cancelling the SAT registration?

There is not much difference between not showing up on the SAT exam date and cancelling the SAT registration except for the monetary factor. The absence of any student is never taken into account by the College Board or any other institution. You will be eligible for a partial refund of USD 10 if you cancel your SAT registration before the deadline which you will not receive if you merely skip the test.
