Polytechnic West, Australia (PWA) was earlier known as the South East Metropolitan College of TAFE. In 2016, the institute collaborated with the Challengers Institute. This higher education institution was initially developed to train the working professionals for emerging railway technologies. PWA began imparting training to international students in 1994 and delivers over 70 nationally accredited courses including ELICOS. The Polytechnic of Western Australia is among the best educational institutions in Australia, which is among the top 5 universities according to the national rankings.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The institute has eight campuses in Carlisle, Thornlie, Balga, Midland, Bentley, Jandakot and two in Armadale. The main campus of the institute features several faculty buildings, departments, cafeterias and sports complexes. The campuses also provide accommodation facilities to the students. Polytechnic West was Western Australia's Large Training Provider of the Year in 2011. The Polytechnic's reinvention has seen it branch out into areas normally untouched by State Training Providers (STP), and was the first STP to teach Higher Education.
