UCLA is a public research university based out of Los Angeles, California, and was established in 1919 as UC's Southern Branch providing two-year undergraduate teachers-training programs. In 1927, it was renamed 'The University of California at Los Angeles' replacing 'Southern Branch', and is the 4th oldest campus of UC system. It is also termed as one of the Public Ivy universities. UCLA has continuously ranked in the top tier of national and international universities including 17th in the World University Rankings 2020, 25th in the US Rankings 2020 and 9th in the World Reputation Rankings 2019 by Times Higher Education It has also been ranked 13th in US News and World Report's Global Ranking 2020 edition. Besides being accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), along with ABET, AACSB, NAAB, ACCME, CAHME, ABA to name a few.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

With a campus size of 419 acres, UCLA has six undergraduate colleges, seven professional schools, and four professional health science schools. The undergraduate colleges are segregated as College of Letters and Science; Engineering; Arts and Architecture; Music; Theater, Film and Television; and Nursing. UCLA offers a wide variety of courses for almost every higher education seeker in nutshell it offers 125+Majors, 90, and approximately 150 graduate degree programs, including a vast selection of management and health sciences options. The most sought after courses are Business, Management, Computer Science, Biological Science, Engineering, Data Science, and more. 

Accomplishments & Alumni 

UCLA is one of the universities with numbers of laurels attached to its name, few of which are; 14 Nobel Prizes, 14 faculty MacArthur Fellows, 118 NCAA titles, and 261 Olympic medals, more than most nations. Its faculty and alumni assisted in creating the Internet and were a pioneer in reverse osmosis. Moreover, around 140 companies have been founded based on technology originated at UCLA. Its reputation as a research center is evident from the fact that 40 of UCLA's doctoral programs are amongst the top 10 in their respective subjects in the USA. UCLA, USA Scholarship

Scholarships for International Students at UCLA

At UCLA, a limited number of international scholarships are granted to students who demonstrate either financial need or a high level of academic and personal achievement. 

How to Apply for UCLA International Scholarships?

Scholarship applications at UCLA are managed by Financial Aid and Scholarships for which students are required to complete the scholarship section of their admissions application. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of specific criteria established by donors, which includes factors such as ethnicity, academic achievements, volunteer work and professional interests. 

In addition to the scholarship section, students must submit the FAFSA or Dream Act Application by March 2 for the year they are enrolling.

Honours Programmes

Scholarship Value: $1000 to $4000 for one academic year

Eligibility: 

  • Must be current College Honors students. New incoming freshmen or transfer students for the next academic year will not be considered.

  • Must be returning for at least one or two quarters in the next academic year.

  • Academic merit will be considered to award scholarships. However, financial need may also be considered for a few of these scholarships.

Deadline: March 21 to April 8

UCLA Achievement Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $500 to $10,000 per year, offered for four years

Eligibility: 

  • Must demonstrate financial need.

  • Entering freshmen will be selected on the basis of a comprehensive review of their university application by UCLA undergraduate admission. 

  • Must meet all academic standards set by Financial Aid and Scholarships.

  • Must complete the FAFSA or CA DREAM Act Application by the given deadline annually.

Deadline: March 2

UCLA Regents Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $2,000 honorarium regardless of financial need.

Number of Awards: 100

Eligibility: 

  • Must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and exceptional potential.

  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in all quarters of attendance.

  • Must enrol in a minimum of 12 units per quarter.

Apart from the scholarships mentioned above, international students can also apply for outside scholarships through resources including Fastweb, College Board, CollegeNET, UCLA Scholarship Resource Center, Scholarship Monkey and many more.
