Australian National University, established in 1946, is situated in the capital city of Canberra, Australia. It is the only university established by the Parliament of Australia. Originally it was Canberra University College, which was established in 1929. Presently, the university is among the top 100 universities in the world and has academic affiliations with IARU, group of Eight, APRU, UNESCO Chairs, U7 Alliance, Winter Institute, Global Scholars Program, AURA, ASAIHL, edX, and OUA. As a member of Group of Eight, it is one of the most research-intensive universities in Australia. Australian National University also has exchange agreements with universities like the National University of Singapore, Peking University, Seoul National University, University of California, George Washington University, Imperial College London, ETH Zurich, and Trinity College Dublin.
Australian National University is home to seven colleges, each of which pursues both academic and research motives. The colleges are Arts & Science, Asia & the Pacific, Business and Economics, Engineering & Computer Science, Medicine, Biology & Environment, and Physical & Mathematical Sciences. The university houses four libraries, with over 2.5 million titles owned by them, out of which one library specially caters to books of Law. Australian National University was recognised as one of the top 10 Most International Universities in the world. It is also one of the most environmentally dedicated institutions, with over 10,000 trees flourishing on its campus.
