Overview

The University of North Texas (UNT) was founded in 1980 as a teacher training institution in Denton, Texas and was known as North Texas State University. In 1988, its name was changed to the University of North Texas. UNT is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to grant bachelors, master's and doctoral degrees. The University of North Texas is the sixth-largest university in Texas and among the 40 largest universities in the United States. The QS World University ranking of UNT ranges between 1001 and 1200. The university has also been named one of America's 100 Best College Buys for 25 years in a row.

The University of North Texas hasmore than a dozen schools and colleges.The degree programmes offered at UNT include a total of 109 bachelors, 94 master's and 36 doctoral degrees, 88 of which are ranked among the nation's top 100. Its 1,200-acre campus features various facilities for both international and domestic students. The University of North Texas is one of the largest public research universities in the United States, with over 41,000 students. Every year, UNT enrols more than 2,500 international students from 141 countries, making it one of the most diverse universities in Texas. Its graduates are prepared for various professional roles in various fields of study. The University of North Texas application process is quite simple and can be completed easily. Freshmen can apply up to a year before their expected entry year. High school seniors typically do so during their senior year.   • As of 2020, more than 448,000 living alumni in the world are there from the University of North Texas. 

  • Many of the university's alumni have made significant contributions to the music industry. Some of these include Roy Orbison, Tom "Bones" Malone, and Blue Lou Marini.

  • World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame members Kevin and David Von Erich, as well as Stone Cold Steve Austin, were student-athletes at the university.

  • Other public service members who are alumni of the university include Michael C. Burgess, the congressman for Texas' 26th district; Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi Arabian's minister of foreign affairs; and Ray Roberts, a former US congressman.

  • World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame members Kevin and David Von Erich, as well as Stone Cold Steve Austin, were student-athletes at the university.

University of North Texas Accommodation

Those who meet the below requirements should stay in residence halls as long as space is available.  UNT requires that all undergraduate students stay in residence halls as long as space is available.

  • Located close to Avenue C and Chestnut Street, Bruce Hall is the most central residence hall on the campus. It was constructed in 1946 and is the oldest residence hall on campus. It features a history that includes several famous former residents, such as Norah Jones.

  • Clark is a freshman residence hall that offers double rooms and triple spaces. It is the home of the engineering living learning community.

  • Crumley hall is a residence hall located on Avenue C and Highland Street. It will primarily serve as a housing facility for the Latin Dreams cohort from 2022 to 2023.

  • Crumley is a small residential hall that features a close-knit community. It’s located near the Willis Library and Onstead Promenade.
