The number of Indian students studying abroad has increased in the past few years due to the high quality of global education provided by foreign universities along with the scope for faster career growth.

Business schools, technical institutes and universities abroad, besides providingIndian students with top-notch education, also make them ready for lucrative jobs which is one of the top reasons for Indian students choosing to study abroad.Foreign universities have become an easy way for students to hasten their career growth and land high-paying global jobs.

Countries like Russia, China, Australia, the UK, the USA and Canada arethe most popular study destinations among students who want topursue technical education primarily because they fetch them work permits for global jobs in the field. The students prefer STEM coursesand business management in these countries. For business studies, 44% of the students opted the UK and 37% opted for Canada.78% of the Indian students have studied STEM courses in the USA in the year 2020-21.

Canada's Immigration Refugee and Citizenship data show a350% increase in the number of Indian students studying in Canadian universities between the 2015-16 and 2019-20 academic years. According to the UK's Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), the enrollment of Indian students has increased by 220%. However, the student statistics in the USA show a downward trend with a decline of 9% between 2015-16 and 2019-20.

The students are mostly attracted by the USAs Optional Training Program (OPT), the UKs Britains New Graduate Pathway (GR) and Canadas Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) which help in the advancement of their careers post-graduation.

Additionally, Indian students have a good track record of work permit approvals abroad. In Canada, the Indian approval rate for PGWPP has been over 95% in the past five years.

The Covid-19 pandemic has not led to significant changes in the scenario and studying abroad still remains relevant for students across the world. While studying at a university abroad,students oftentarget and look for easier permanent residency options in these countries. The dreams of the students seem to be achievable as there is a need for technical skills abroad in various fields.
