Deakin University has announced its Vice-Chancellor's Meritorious Scholarship programme for the year 2022. The scholarship programme offers a 100 per cent tuition fee waiver for Indian students.

The scholarship is available to four academically talented Indian students studying for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate degree. The scholarship will cover tuition for the full duration of the course at the university.

The development comes as a part of the university's initiative known as 'Changing Lives'. This initiative recognises high-achieving students who have the potential to make an impactful contribution to both, the university and their community in India.

Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University, Professor Iain Martin said that the university is committed to supporting aspiring Indian students to pursue a high-quality international education.

He added that it has been almost three decades that Deakin's relationship with India has been a "very successful one", by achieving great outcomes for them, adding that it has become a priority for them to help students gain the necessary skills to make a real difference to their communities in India.

Deakin's Vice-President (Global Alliances) and CEO (South Asia) Ravneet Pawha said the scholarship announcement has been made at the right time. Both countries' Prime Ministers have recently emphasised the importance of education exchange relating to the Free Trade Agreement. She added that their aim is to nurture Indian students who can help contribute in areas of science, technology, arts and more.
