The University of Manchester has a range of scholarships for Indian students, for which application deadlines have been announced for 2023 admission intakes.

The university has differentiated programmes for students from different backgrounds. The scholarship eligibility criteria are designed to accommodate the academic backgrounds of all students.

University of Manchester Scholarship Deadlines 2023

Presently, only tentative deadlines have been set for upcoming intakes. Students can refer to these to submit an appropriate application.

Global Futures Scholarships at University of Manchester

The award is available for bachelors and masters applicants.

• Eligibility: The applicant must have/be:

  • A citizen of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka,

  • Have an unconditional offer,

  • Completed XII for bachelor’s degree, or bachelors for master’s degree,

  • Not self-funding their education, and

  • Academically merit holder.

• Expenses Covered: The award awards for the first year of study:

  • GBP 5,000 to 15 bachelors students.

  • GBP 6,000 to 80 masters students.

• How to Apply: All students with unconditional offers receive a Scholarship Application form along with their offer letters. They have to fill out the same and submit it before the scholarship deadline.

GREAT Scholarships at the University of Manchester

Students must be either from India or Nigeria to apply for the scholarship. The application guidelines for Indian students are given below.

• Eligibility: The basic eligibility criteria are:

  • The student must be an Indian passport holder,

  • Enrolled in any master’s degree programme in School of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Arts Languages and Cultures, or Law, and

  • Additional eligibility criteria for GREAT Scholarships.

• Expenses Covered: An award of GBP 10,000.

• How to Apply: Students must fill out the Scholarship Application form and submit it before the deadline.

Women in STEM Scholarships at University of Manchester

The award is for women students from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka for studies in STEM courses.

• Eligibility: To get considered for the award students must be:

  • Be or identify as a woman,

  • Passport holder or PR of India,

  • Recipient of an unconditional offer for studies in an eligible MSc programme,

  • A previous student or resident in the UK,

  • Working on English requirements as stated in the offer,

  • A case of financial support,

  • Active or have work experience related to programme,

  • Working on plans to use course experience for advancement and development in India,

  • Working on plans to engage more women in STEM from India, and 

  • Alright with personal data sharing with British Council. 

• Expenses Covered: The following expenses shall be covered by the scholarship award:

  • Tuition fee,

  • GBP 1,133 monthly stipend for 12 months, for living expenses including accommodation,

  • Child allowance according to UK visa policies,

  • IELTS exam fee,

  • Return economy class flight ticket to home country,

  • Educational and stationary costs,

  • Visa and NHS expenses, and 

  • Miscellaneous expenses such as heavy baggage allowance.

• How to Apply: To apply for the award, students must fill out the Scholarship Application form emailed to them by International Office, and submit the same before mentioned deadline.
