H-1B Visa Including Master's Cap Reached for 2024: USCIS

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that for the financial year 2024 which begins on October 1, the H-1B visa cap has been reached with all successful applicants being informed about it.

In a statement released by the federal agency on Monday, it was declared that it has received enough electronic registrations during the initial period to reach the H-1B numerical allocations or H-1B cap for the fiscal year 2024. It also includes the advanced degree exemption-the master’s cap.

Presently the annual regular cap for the H-1B category is set by the US Congress at 65,000. Out of this, 6,800 visas are set aside according to the terms of legislation as per the free trade agreements between U.S. Chille and U.S. Singapore. The unused visas in this category get available for H-1B visa use for the next fiscal year’s regular H-1B visa cap.

The registrations were randomly selected from the ones that were properly submitted to reach the cap and all the prospective petitioners with selected registrations were informed that they could file an H1-B cap-subject petition for the beneficiaries in the registrations.

H-1B cap-subject petitions for 2024 include those petitions which are eligible for the advanced degree exemptions and may be filed with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) from April 1, 2023. It must be based on a valid and selected registration.
