New Jersey Institute of Technology was founded in 1881, and opened in 1885 as Newark Technical School. It is one of the R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity university. It is academically affiliated to APLU, NASAD, MSA, AACSB, ACSA, ABET, NAAB, Sea-grant, Space-grant and CHEN. Additionally, it also has sporting affiliations with NCAA Division I: America East, MACFC, EIVA, and ACHA: CSCHC. The university itself has been accredited by the government body of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). New Jersey Institute of Technology employs high-achieving faculty members. Additionally, the university welcomes students from all over the world, and has active enrollment of students from over 70 countries. The university is located near New York City, and is at commutable distance with Rutgers Museum, Rutgers Medical School and Seton Hall Law School.
New Jersey Institute of Technology provides students, both domestic and international, an opportunity to study Bachelors, and Masters & Doctorate courses, among 52 and different 67 programs, respectively. The schools and departments of the university include Newark College of Engineering (NCE), College of Science and Liberal Arts (CSLA), J. Robert and Barbara A. New Jersey Institute of Technology has a clearly designed admission process for all its Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate students. The applicants are required to take into consideration certain points while applying to the university. The considerations to be remembered by the applicants include:
The applications shall be reviewed on the basis of course curriculum for which transcript has been earned. The course and institution’s background as rigorous is likely to help the students in competing better.
If there is a ranking system in the institution whose transcript is submitted, then the top 25% of the class are considered for admission. In absence of a ranking system, GPA is considered for the admission.
SAT or ACT tests are considered for higher scores and self-report is encouraged.
GRE is a requirement for admission in Applied Physics, Architecture, Biology, Infrastructure Planning, and other Masters programs.
Doctorate students are required to have 24 credits beyond Masters degree.
Dissertation Research programs shall require 34 credits.
