Maharashtra Prioritises Vaccination of Students with Study Abroad Plans

The official announcement made by the Maharashtra government said that the vaccinations for students planning to study abroad this year will be provided between May 31 and June 2 at three vaccination centres in Rajawadi, Kasturba and Cooper.

Maharashtra Prioritises Vaccination of Students with Study Abroad Plans

The government of Maharashtra recently announced that students with confirmed admissions to foreign universities and valid visas will be vaccinated against Covid-19 on priority basis.

The official announcement made by the state government said that the vaccinations for students planning to study abroad this year will be provided between May 31 and June 2 at three vaccination centres in Rajawadi, Kasturba and Cooper.

A tweet made by Aaditya Thackeray said that the BMC had arranged free walk-in vaccination drives for students with study abroad plans. The same will apply only to those who have received confirmation of admission to a university abroad.

He further announced that the students should hold I-20 or DS 160 form verified confirmation letters from the intended university along with their personal identification documents.

The same has been initiated in order to vaccinate students within the required time, in order to ensure timely admission, said Thackerey’s tweet.

The move to vaccinate students in the state who have plans to study abroad this year is being welcomed and appreciated by citizens. However, the call to vaccinate Class 12 board exam students is growing as they will be appearing for the board exams in the next few months.

Students of Class 12 in India have asked the Central government to defer the exams till every candidate has been fully vaccinated and the probability of them getting infected by the virus has been reduced.

Manish Sisodia, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, has said that if the Centre fails to vaccinate students before the exams, then the exams should be cancelled.

Thackeray further said that he will be speaking to other Municipal corporations in Maharashtra to make sure that students in and around the cities with confirmation letters from foriegn universities get vaccinated.
