An increasing number of foreign universities are demonstrating interest in expanding their market by providing a hybrid mode of education. Students study the first half of the course in online mode from their home country and the second half on the campus of a foreign country.

New Pathways for Hybrid Study Abroad Programs are Evolving

The last few years have noticed fundamental shifts in the nature of global student mobility. Students as well as education providers are now accepting the modern approaches towards getting foreign education.

The countries and universities that were popular for a lot of time have retained their positions of preference yet several insightful trends have emerged that will give a new definition to global student mobility patterns in the future.

The adoption and development of technology in education and the increasing availability and accessibility of international education through platforms have helped in this natural transition. Several new opportunities have opened up for foreign universities that are aiming to tap the huge South Asian markets such as India.

A study by Leap and Ipsos found that Indian students are increasingly interested in a hybrid mode of study. 33% of students believe hybrid learning is better than traditional learning while the same percentage believed both are equally attractive.

The education platforms are collaborating with universities to harness the potential of the market. They are designing hybrid programs for Indian students who wish to experience international education. These initiatives help augment the revenue and increase diversity with a large number of international students studying in hybrid modes.

The increase in the number of study-abroad aspirants makes India a lucrative market for foreign universities to explore new avenues of engagement. The partnership utilises the strengths of both partners and helps deliver high-quality education.

These hybrid programs allow students to study the first portion of their foreign master's degree from their home country through synchronous or asynchronous online learning. Professionals can work and study at the same time. The next half of the course is completed through on-campus learning at a foreign university which enables them to save a huge portion of their money. In this process, global education is being democratised.

Students can get educational loans and scholarships that reduce their expenses. Universities also waive language proficiency and GRE/GMAT requirements which are a part of the important eligibility criteria. On graduating, students get international exposure and work opportunities through a post-study work visa.

More and more students are now considering hybrid programs as an alternative and cost-effective solution for international degrees thereby providing an expansive market to foreign universities.
