Lincoln University was founded in 1854 as a private university, in 1972. It was recognized as a public university and was known to be the USA’s first-degree granting university and since then it is a public institution. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Lincoln University is ranked 119th in Regional Universities North, 41st in Top Performers on Social Mobility, 40th in Top Public Schools by US News and World Report 2020 Edition.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Lincoln University has a 422-acre campus and it is located near Oxford in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania. The second location of this university is in University City, Philadelphia. Undergraduate and graduate coursework is provided to approximately 2,000 students by this University. Lincoln University is also a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. The courses offered at Lincoln University are as follows: Master of Arts in Human Services (MAHS), Business Administration (MBA), Education (M.Ed.) in Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership. Popular majors at Lincoln University include Public Administration and Social Service Professions; Business, Management, Marketing, Social Sciences; Health Professions, and Communication, Journalism to name a few.

Lincoln University has numerous alumni including US Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, Langston Hughes, Cab Calloway; Medal of Honor recipient and pioneering African-American editor Christian Fleetwood, Frederick Alexander; the first president of Nigeria, Nnamdi Azikiwe; the first president of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah, song artist Gil Scott-Heron and many more.

The university is predominantly female with 63% of undergraduate students women.
