Lancaster University, established in the year 1964, is one of the prominent and top research-intensive universities in the United Kingdom. Its campus has been built up at Bailrigg across 560 acres. The residential collegiate university has nine colleges - Bowland College, Cartmel College, County College, Furness College, Fylde College, Graduate College, Grizedale College, Lonsdale College, Pendle College. In total, they all offer 18 research programmes. All of these colleges have private residence blocks, administration staff, private halls and bars, along with Wi-Fi in common areas. They also have Chaplaincy Centre that provides prayer rooms for different faiths like Buddhism, Christian, Islam, Hindu, Jewish, etc.
Talking about the academic structure, then Lancaster University offers undergraduate, postgraduate programmes, also research and doctoral level programs. The university's highly-qualified and experienced faculty members guide the students for international-level research based on areas like humanities, social sciences, business, natural sciences, modern languages, and technology. At present, they have a force of 13,000 full-time students, who have enrolled themselves in first or higher degrees. With its bus services, the university has made it more convenient for students and faculty members to commute on a daily basis.
As per the latest updates keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic, Lancaster University has released guidelines for international students starting from their pre-arrival to post-departure in the country.
Even though now the government has lifted all coronavirus-related restrictions, the university still urges students to self-isolate if they face any of the three symptoms - high temperature, continuous coughing, change in smell or taste senses.
