Punjab Sets Up Education/Placement Cell to Help Students Study Abroad, Find Jobs

The Punjab government has started a placement to help students get admission and find jobs in foreign countries under ‘Punjab Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karobaar’ mission. The cell, inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has been set up in Mohali as a pilot project.

This came after much delay at a meeting held on February 15, 2021, in order to work out the modality and decide on key steps as to how it will begin with foreign study and placement counselling.

The government is aiming at identifying a batch of 440 students who wish to pursue their higher education abroad, and 110 of those who are looking for jobs in foreign countries by February 28 this year.

For counselling, the authorities have been asked to create a half-yearly schedule up to September 30 which will be shared with the respective district bureaus of employment & enterprises (DBEE).
