The University of East Anglia, also known as UEA, is a public research institution situated in Norwich city of England. Established in 1963, the University of East Anglia has been granted Gold certification by the Teaching Excellence framework. UEA has also been branded the 21st best university by The Complete University Guide 2020, Ranked 23rd inThe Times and the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020. The Time Higher Education World University Rankings 2020 of the University of East Anglia was 192 and 44 in THE World University Rankings 2020 for research citation.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

UEA has four faculties and 26 schools of study. The university is known for its Creative Writing courses in the whole country. UEA is situated only 15 minutes from the historic and vibrant city of Norwich. The city is recognised for a buzzing local music scene, cinemas, bowling alleys and multiple theatres. Accommodation can never be a problem for students at the university as UEA offers over 4,000 fully furnished rooms with free Wi-Fi making it a great place to live. The student accommodation at the university covers a variety of price points.

Starting with the first batch of students in 1963, the University of East Anglia is now a community of more than 140,000 graduated students. The alumni of the university are voluntarily associated with the university to share their experience, joys and enhance the life and well being of students associated with the university.  The University is celebrated globally for its cutting-edge research on Environmental Science. UEA has consistently been fetching high ratings for student experience. UAE’s campus has been awarded with the Green Flag Award for four consecutive years to maintain high quality natural green spaces.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

The number of international students studying in the University of East Anglia is evident enough to prove its popularity amongst the global population. Out of over 16,800 students, 4,000 students are international students that have come from more than 120 countries. The social scenes on the university campus are something to boast about. The on-campus live music venue, the weekly events and club nights, 200 active sports clubs and societies and many social activities being organised on university campuses creates various opportunities for students to build connections with people. Many courses offered at UEA are featured with a placement or "year in industry" option. It provides opportunities for students to gain experience in the workplace along with academic studies. Also, they acquire relevant industry-driven skills which help them grab opportunities after the completion of studies. 

COVID-19 Response 2021 

The latest update associated with on-campus teaching and learning at the University of East Anglia in 2021/ 22 is as follows: 

  • The UK Government has announced on campus return of students for in-person academic programmes. Following the government’s rule, the University of East Anglia shall start the on-campus services, teachings and facilities soon and the same will be communicated to students. 

  • Presently, the practical projects and complex research work at the university are being offered on campus with all safety precautions.

  • Testing of staff, faculty and students are being done on a regular basis to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone.

  • Accommodation facilities are available for both domestic and international students and the application process is open for upcoming sessions.

  • All safety measures shall be followed on campus to ensure the safety of everyone and those travelling from other countries will have to follow travel guidelines as denied by the UK Government and complete the formalities on arrival in the UK.

International Undergraduate Scholarships

International Undergraduate Scholarship is offered to students enrolled in the undergraduate degree programme at UEA. The eligibility criteria to receive the scholarship is mentioned below:

  • Candidates must be possessing an unconditional or conditional offer for the first year of a UG degree programme from the university.

  • Candidates must be classified as international students. 

  • Students must demonstrate a good track record in academics and of community engagements. 

  • Candidates must be independently funded and must not be sponsored or recipient of any other scholarship. 

Award Value: £4,000, £6,000 or £10,000 per year of study

Scholarship Deadline: Candidates can fill in the online application form for scholarship available on the official website of the university by 14th June 2021 

India Undergraduate Scholarships

India Undergraduate Scholarships is offered to international students who hold Indian citizenship and are enrolled in an undergraduate degree programme at UEA. The eligibility criteria to receive the India Undergraduate Scholarships is mentioned below:

  • The scholarship is applicable for Indian students only.

  • Applicants pursuing Physiotherapy Courses or courses offered by the Faculty of Medicine and Occupational Therapy are exempted from the application to this scholarship.

 Award Value: 

  • £4,000 per year if the course fee is £15,900 per year

  • £6,000 per year if the course fee is £20,200 per year

  • The amounts will be deducted from candidates’ tuition fees for each year of the intended programme at the university.

India Postgraduate Scholarships

India Postgraduate Scholarships is offered to international students who hold Indian citizenship and are enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme at UEA. The eligibility criteria to receive the India postgraduate Scholarships is mentioned below:

  • Open for Indian students only.

  • Candidates must be applying for courses that are commencing in September. 

Award Value: 

  • £4,000 for the candidates who meet the entry requirements of the university

  • £5,000 for candidates with a final undergraduate grade of more than 65 per cent

  • The amounts will be deducted from candidates’ tuition fees for each year of the intended programme at the university.

The Charlie Dimont Scholarship

The Charlie Dimont Scholarship is offered to international students enrolled in the master’s degree programme for a specific course. The eligibility criteria to receive the Charlie Dimont Scholarship is mentioned below:

  • Available for Master’s degree programme candidates only.

  • Candidates must have an offer for the courses offered by the School of Politics, Language, Philosophy, Art, Communication Studies, American Studies and Media.

Award Value: £2,500 (available as tuition fee deduction only)

Award Duration: One Year
 

International Excellence Scholarship

International Excellence Scholarship is offered to awards applicants who are enrolled in postgraduate courses at the UEA. The candidate must explain how studying in the UAE can contribute to the field of studies they have chosen to study.

Eligibility

The general eligibility criteria to receive the scholarship is as follows

  • Must be an international student

  • Must be self-funded 

The online application is available on the scholarship page of the university. Candidates can access and fill in the application for the 2021 session.
