Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates from the state of Maharashtra enrolled in foreign universities can now apply for the foreign education scholarship until August 28, 2020. The notification was released by the Maharashtra Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) on August 13, 2020.
All the eligible students can register for the scholarship scheme for the academic year 2020-21 in online mode through email. Only candidates who are pursuing Master’s degrees and research programmes overseas can apply for the available scholarship and the same shall be from an institution or university accredited by the regulatory body in the foreign country. Students studying abroad in fields such as Commerce, Accounting and Finance; Engineering and Management; Agricultural Sciences and Medicine; Applied and Pure Sciences; and Humanities and Social Science shall be considered for the scholarship.

The scheme allows one hundred scholarships every year in accordance with the availability of funds, 30 per cent of which is reserved for women students. In such a case where awards for a given academic year are left, it shall be carried forward to the next year.

The scholarship scheme is aimed at providing financial assistance to SC students from the state opting for foreign education every year. It shall cover full tuition fee and a fixed foreign university maintenance allowance of 14000 USD or 9000 GBP. The same will be paid directly to the university.
