Earlier on May 2, 2022, the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed the hope that India would provide a list of Indian students who had a legitimate need to return to China. Given that the list was submitted a long time ago, Wenbin, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was questioned about any deadlines for their admission.
On May 26, 2022, China had begun to permit the resettlement of Indian students after more than two years following the Covid-19 outbreak. Only recently, on August 9, 2022, China announced that it had initiated the procedure of returning Indian students who were stranded in their home country owing to Covid-19 visa constraints and that the first batch may arrive shortly there.
When questioned about postings on social media by certain Chinese diplomats about the impending implementation of a new visa policy for all international students, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin stated that they are actively working to bring back international students to the country and that the procedure for returning of Indian students has already been started.

They anticipate the first batch of Indian students will be returning shortly, and they will keep working on it while maintaining the safety precautions against Coronavirus, Wang noted.
When questioned about the status of the list of Indian students who wanted to return that had been provided by the Indian Embassy in Beijing, he responded that the pertinent information would soon be made public. A list of thousands of Indian students who wish to return home and reenroll in their colleges is now being processed in China.
As per reports, Covid-19 visa constraints have kept over 23,000 Indian students, most of whom are studying medicine, at home. Earlier, China had requested the names of Indian students who wanted to return right away to continue their studies, and the Indian embassy responded with a list of numerous necessitated students.

Although China is allowing flights from many different nations like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Russia, etc. it has not yet figured out how to allow flights between the two nations. Two years ago, at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, flights between India and China were grounded. These flights are still grounded today. The two nations, according to officials, are in discussions to resume restricted flights.
