Founded in 1926, Anhui Medical University (AMU) is a popular public provincial university located in China. Formerly known as Shanghai South-Eastern Medical College, Anhui Medical University is recognised by CMC, CSC, WHO (World Health Organisation) and MCI (Medical Council of India). Famous for its core educational pedagogy, the university is gradually becoming a hot destination for medical aspirants all over the country. The proud history of the university tells that AMU was the first authorised university to enrol PhD and Post-Doctoral students in the province. With the aim of producing a huge number of medical professionals, the university currently possesses over 4,000 administrative staff and more than 19,000 students pursuing higher education. 

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The medical programmes offered at Anhui Medical University are delivered in the English language. These courses are administered by various departments, namely, Clinical Medicine, Rehabilitation, Anaesthesia, Medical Cosmetic Science, International Student School, Iconography and Medical Psychology. The university is located in the beautiful city of Hefei, which is the capital of Anhui province. The two campuses of Anhui Medical University are called the Main Campus and Southern Campus. The campus of the varsity is stretched over 8,60,000 square meters of land with a total floor space of 700 thousand square meters. Fully-equipped with a campus computer network, the library of Anhui University houses a collection of 20,000 different kinds of periodicals, 720,000 volumes, e-journals and journals. Other than this, the university provides its students with facilities like gymnasium, playgrounds, swimming pool and has internet access at all the international student dormitories. To cater to its students’ daily needs, the university has various stores and supermarkets nearby.  

Accomplishments & Alumni 

Talking about the international collaborations of Anhui Medical University, it has close ties with many higher institutions in countries like America, Japan and some European countries. The university has collaborated with Harvard University and Mayo Clinic in the USA, Karolinska Medical Institute in Sweden, Sino-Canada Children Foundation and Osnabruck University of Applied Sciences, Germany to set up research centres. The university also has 4 directly affiliated hospitals with an accommodation capacity of over 4,000 beds.
