Four Karnataka public universities sign MoUs with Pennysylvania universities to offer high-quality education to students.

4 Karnataka Public Universities Sign MoU for Undergraduate Courses with Pennsylvania Universities

Four public universities from Karnataka have signed agreements to collaborate with the universities of Pennsylvania, US on January 10, 2023. CN Ashwath Narayan, Karnataka Minister for Higher Education (SHEC) was present when the agreements were signed.

A statement issued by the minister noted that the vice-chancellors of the four Karnataka varsities and representatives from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) attended the event. The agreements apply to specific undergraduate courses as of now.

Mangalore University, Bangalore University and Bangalore City University entered a pact with Commonwealth, and Kutzdown Universities of Pennsylvania. It is a comprehensive public university located in Pennysylvania that offers 45 majors and more than 30 minors. On the other hand, The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) signed an agreement with Millersville University which provides 100+ programmes.

The Karnataka varsities are affiliated with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and provide several globally recognised UG and PG programmes.

The agreement lays down that Bangalore City University will share its expertise in English, business administration, computer science, sports psychology and sports management.

Bangalore University will benefit in areas of geoinformation science and geography. It will be able to start twinning programmes that will send students to US universities. The VTU will also benefit in the field of geoinformation science.

Mangalore University aims to work in the areas of Business Administration and Strategic Communications.

Mr Narayan explained that joint research proposals and new programmes can develop after these agreements. This is an important step that the administration will take towards decentralisation of the higher education sector. To impart high-quality education to students, these agreements with foreign universities serve fruitful.

Also, he said that the digitalisation of education is an extremely important step and it has been given priority by the Karnataka government. New training courses and initiatives have been launched for the same.
