The Ben Gurion University of Negev is a research university in Israel that organises top-quality international summer programs for students at various stages of their education. The university has now opened applications for its unique Data Mining and Business Intelligence Summer Program 2023.

Ben Gurion University came into being in 1969 and gained its reputation as a leading university in Israel. In 2012, Israel’s Prime Minister declared that the university is to become the cyber security command centre of the country Cyber Security Research Center and the Big Data Lab have been set up in 2013. Hence, it provides the ideal environment to conduct summer programmes in this field with its highly trained faculty, research centres and Advanced Technologies Park.

About the Programme

Data Mining and Business Intelligence concentrate on automatic data analysis and extraction of knowledge and information through mining. In recent years, data mining plays a crucial role in the competitive environment and helps organisations from taking decisions about operations and improvement of strategic planning. 

The summer program will meet the much-needed academic training in big data, business intelligence and data mining methods that would enhance cyber security. The course has been designed to help students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge including tools.

  • Professional field trips will also be conducted to leading companies that will enhance students’ understanding of data mining and cyber security.

  • The programme will be taught in English.

Admission Requirements for the Programme

The admission requirements for the Data Mining and Business Intelligence Summer Program at Ben Gurion University of Negev are as follows: 

  • Students must be in the third year of their undergraduate studies or higher or at any year of graduate studies in Software Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Communication Engineering, Management with Robotics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics and Industrial Engineering and Information Systems track.

  • Students must have a GPA of at least 82 or 3.0.

  • English proficiency is required.

  • Personal Laptop (Windows OS) is necessary. 

  •  Programming experience and background in Cybersecurity will be considered as an  advantage.

Students must fill up the application forms by visiting the university website. The admission committee’s decision on admissions will be considered final. The documents that they require to submit include: 

  • Scanned copy of your passport

  • Academic transcripts(up-to-date)

  • Resume

  • Recommendation letter from the head of the department

  • Maximum one-page long motivation letter explaining why they want to attend this summer program

  • Passport-format photograph
