700 Indian Students in Canada With Fake Visa Documents Face Deportation

The demand for Canadian student visas had risen over the past few years, leading to several fraudulent services being offered to unsuspecting innocents. In a report released recently, over 700 students had fallen victim to fake documentation that certified their admission to Canadian universities.

The Canadian Border Security Agency (CBSA) recently sent out deportation letters to the 700 students who had allegedly received the admission offer letters. According to reports, all 700 students had applied for student visas through the Education Migration Services in Jalandhar, which Brijesh Mishra had led.

The reports further highlighted that the students had been charged over INR 16 lakhs for all expenses, which included the admission fee to the reputed Humber College, except the airfare and security deposits.

Data revealed that the students had travelled to Canada on student permits in 2019-18. The documents were tagged as fake when the students applied for permanent residency in Canada. The PR process in Canada involves scrutinising the admission offer letters by the CBSA, based on which the student permits had been issued. Under scrutiny, the documents were then found to be fake. The reports revealed that most of the 700 students were able to complete their studies, get work permits and gain valuable work experience, but landed in trouble after applying for PR.

Experts commented that such kind of fraudulent activity at this scale is one of a kind when it was caught in Canada for the first time. They added the activity was a result of the huge demand to travel to Canada for higher studies and permanent residency.

According to an indianarrative.com report, after the students had landed in Toronto, they received a call from Mishra, claiming that all the seats in their respective courses had been filled and that they would have wait for 6 months till the next semester or find a different college for admission. In addition to this, students also received a refund on the university fees that they had previously submitted, thus, securing Mishra’s innocence in the minds of the students.

After enrolling in other colleges, the students who had completed their studies applied for work permits. The students, the indianarrative.com report stated, still unsuspecting of their fate, provided the necessary documents for verification. After scrutiny by the CBSE, the documents were found to be fake and the students received their deportation letters with an opportunity for a hearing.

Further inquiry by indianarrative.com, revealed that the students were made to sign their own visa application forms instead of Mishra, which led to further complications since the CBSA is unable to prove that Mishra had been the mastermind.

Therefore, with no proof and the CBSA rejecting the notion of failure on part of the Canadian visa and airport officials, the indianarrative report stated, the students now have no other option than to challenge the deportation in court, which is expected to be another expensive ordeal for the students.
