The University of Auckland was established on May 23, 1883 as Auckland College. It was initially a part of the University of New Zealand. The University of Auckland is the highest-ranked university in New Zealand in the world university rankings. It is also the country's leading university in the QS World University Rankings 2020. The university has been placed at the 83rd position, making it the only university in the top 100 in New Zealand. The motto of the University of Auckland is Ingenio et Labore which means "by natural ability and hard work".
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The campus of the University of Auckland comprises an impressive 16-hectare City Campus along with a few specialist campuses in certain parts of Auckland and the North Island. This includes the Newmarket Campus, Grafton Campus, Tai Tokerau Campus, Leigh Marine Laboratory, South Auckland Campus and the Goldie Estate. In addition to that, the campus is beautiful with historic grounds and innovative buildings and a sprew of facilities starting from galleries to a Recreation Centre and retail outlets. The University of Auckland offers a number of Bachelors and Masters programmes in Business and Commerce, Education and Teaching, Engineering and Construction, Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, History, Literature and Philosophy, etc.
