Lincoln University was established as an independent university in the year 1990. This was after Lincoln College, Canterbury was made independent of the University of Canterbury. The university has been ranked 356th in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking along with a five-star rating. Its subject areas of Forestry and Agriculture are ranked in the top 100. The Times Higher Education (THE) world university rankings 2020 has put Lincoln in the 501-600 bracket.  The university has been formally accredited by organisations like European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) Australia, Urban Allotment Gardens, Valuers' Registration Board (VRB), among others. 

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The campus is located in the outskirts of Christchurch, which is the largest city in the south island of New Zealand. Lincoln University is the only university of New Zealand to be a member of the Global Challenges University Alliance. It is also the first university to offer landscape architecture course in the southern hemisphere. It offers the best course in the field of agriculture. The university provides a peaceful study environment within the campus.
