The university first started off as a higher education institution in 1899 to help prepare teachers for the grammar school of the state, which later on in 1967 earned its University status. The University has since been garnering a reputation for itself as one of the best universities in the region and midwest. Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Spread over 1,000 acres of land, Western Illinois University Macomb has over 60 buildings which include seven residential halls, an 18-hole golf course and a 300-acre farm.
