The University of Hartford or UHart finds its roots in 1877 when the Hartford Art School was established, soon followed by the Hartt School of Music and Hillyer College — each founded independently by eminent personalities who believed in the importance of making education available for all. These three founding colleges came together in 1957 and became the base of what would grow to become one of the finest educational establishments in the area. It was not long before the university saw a boom in enrolments, quickly expanded and added the College of Arts & Sciences, Barney School of Business, the College of Education, Nursing & Health Professions, and the College of Engineering, Technology & Architecture under its iconic red and white emblem. UHart has been ranked 194th in National Universities and 57th in Engineering Programmes by the US News & World Report.

UHart is an independent, private, coeducational university offering over 150 academic programmes across its seven schools and colleges. The university has a 350-acre tree-lined campus in West Hartford, Connecticut that lies midway between Boston and New York. The university boasts a long history of not only providing world-class education but also promoting the all-round development of its students.

The University of Hartford continues with its blended approach of teaching for the academics for sessions 2021.
Courses are divided into courses offered into various formats like Online (asynchronous), remote (synchronous), hybrid, and in-person.
Residence halls are open for all students from states and countries listed in the CT Travel Advisory.
Social distancing and mask are mandatory on campus with additional cleaning of common areas at frequent intervals.
No guests are allowed in the campus residence halls or buildings. However, in some cases someone is coming to campus, they must fill out the LiveSafe health survey before arriving via the app or online.

It provides excellent quality of education plus there are several scholarship options open to international students, making the university affordable to a wide spectrum of students.
To make education affordable and accessible to all, 90% of UHart’s students receive financial aid in the form of:
Gift Aid - Scholarships. Repayment of this aid is not required.
Loans Aid - Must be repaid with interest.
Work Aid - On and off-campus employment opportunities are provided to the students via the Federal Work-Study programme.
Apart from that, students can claim the University Scholarships as well as Need-Based Aid to pay for their education. The merit-based scholarships offered by the University of Hartford to international students are given below:
It is the non-need-based scholarships awarded to talented students in a particular field of study. Three types of talent scholarships are awarded by the University of Hartford:
Full-time students entering Hartford Art School (HAS) may be awarded these non-need-based scholarships based upon the quality of their portfolio review and academic achievements. These scholarships are renewable each academic year based upon the Dean of HAS’ recommendation.
Value: Up to a maximum amount equal to the tuition fee
Eligibility
Students showing outstanding athletic performance who participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I programmes may be awarded these scholarships based on the recommendations of the Athletic Department.
Maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
Value: Up to a maximum amount equal to the total Cost of Attendance
Eligibility
Maintaining the minimum satisfactory academic progress as required by the school or college in which the student is enrolled.
Full-time students entering the Hartt School may be awarded these scholarships based upon the quality of their portfolio and academic achievements. These scholarships are renewable every year up to four years. Students enrolled in a double major or five-year programme may get their scholarship renewed for five years.
Value: Up to a maximum amount equal to the tuition fee
Eligibility
Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.75 in all UHart course work or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in your major field of study
The Office of Admission of the University of Hartford awards academic scholarships based on the academic performance of the student. The GPA and overall rank in the class and SART scores are the factors that determine the eligibility of the student to receive the award.
Value: $23,000 to full-tuition. It is renewable for four years provided the student maintains an average GPA of 3.00
How to Apply?
There is no need to fill in a separate application for the scholarship. Deserving students will be automatically considered for scholarship based on the admission application for an undergraduate course of study.
