With its inception in 1889, the University of Idaho has been working towards providing aspirants with a transformative higher education experience. Accredited to the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, the University of Idaho has been recognised as a student-centric, learning and research institution that also focuses on public service. It is a public research university situated in Moscow, Idaho. Operating as one of the USA's land-grant universities, the University of Idaho ensures that its graduates are able to tackle various real-world situations and build a successful career for themselves. 

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The University of Idaho has three branch campuses spread across the US, with its primary campus in Moscow, Idaho. The branch campuses are situated in Coeur d'Alene, Boise, and Idaho Falls. The courses at the University of Idaho range from a variety of undergraduate and graduate majors in different fields. There are a total of 94 undergraduate majors at the University of Idaho, meanwhile, there are 62 graduate majors available in fields such as engineering, arts & architecture, agriculture and life sciences, education, health and human science, law and many more. With a student to teacher ratio of 16:1, the University of Idaho ensures that each student is able to clear his/her doubts and questions.

Accomplishments & Alumni

The University of Idaho has an Alumni Association, Inc. (UIAA, Inc.), which has been founded to support the alumni of the university and connect with the alma mater. It is a network of more than 1,00,000 alumni across the world. The aim is to develop strong and long-term relationships with alumni. It is a platform for active involvement and association with the activities of the university. Every year, the University of Idaho Alumni Association (UIAA) in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) recognises outstanding students and alumni of the university and awards them for their achievements, contribution and volunteer support to the university. The vision of U and I university is to provide solutions and enhance the quality of life through education and research work in various fields. The University of Idaho Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) supports and promotes research work and encourages scholars to be engaged in research and development and address the local, national and global needs. 

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

At the University of Idaho, student diversity is the key to the proper development of an educational institution and its students. Currently, a total of 11,926 students are enrolled under various undergrad and graduate programmes, out of which, 4% of the students belong from other countries. Through its Alumni Association, graduates are offered a host of career services, that consist of various career development programmes and events, as well as finding career paths for those seeking one.

Invitation to Idaho Scholarship 2021

Invitation to Idaho Scholarship is an award offered to freshmen and transfer students enrolled in the first-year bachelor’s degree programme for the Fall 2021 term. 

Value: Total funds available for Invitation to Idaho Scholarship 2021 is $15,084.

It is a renewable scholarship and for up to four years. The candidate must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 at the University of Idaho to get the scholarship renewed.  

For transfer students, the scholarship is renewed for up to three years and the students are expected to maintain a minimum GPA at the university. 

Eligibility Criteria for First-Year Students: Fall Term 2021 

The general eligibility criteria that a student must meet to receive the Invitation to Idaho Scholarship 2021 is as follows: 

  • Must be a new, first-time freshman admitted to the University of Idaho. 

  • Must be enrolled in a first-year bachelor's degree programme at the University of Idaho. 

  • Must have a GPA of at least 3.0 in the previous years of studies.

  • Must be an international student or a resident of a non-WUE state. 

How to Apply? 

There is no separate application for the Invitation to Idaho Scholarship. The admission application is considered for this award.

#YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship 2021

The #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship is an initiative taken by the U.S. higher education institutions to provide international students a welcoming, safe and diverse environment for higher studies. 

Under this initiative, the University of Idaho offers two annual scholarships that are renewable for up to four years (Fall and Spring semesters only).

Value: The scholarship covers up to 50% of the scholarship.


The minimum eligibility to receive the scholarship  #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship is as follows:

  • The scholarship is offered to international students 

  • The student must be enrolled in first-year undergraduate degree programmes.

  • To get the scholarship renewed, the student must participate in a minimum of 10 hours per semester of cultural sharing and engage with the local community through an internship with the International Programs Office.

  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of  3.0.

  • Must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credits for Fall and Spring semesters.

How to Apply?

The candidate must submit an essay of 500-1000 words or a two to five-minute video demonstrating the leadership skills and his/ her ideas to use skills to get advanced intercultural learning and understanding at the University of Idaho.


The applicant must submit the admission application at the University of Idaho by February 1, 2021 and Scholarship application by March 15, 2021

Scholarships for Graduate Students at U of I

Graduate students may apply for a Teaching Assistantship (TA) or Research Assistantship (RA) to their respective department. Each department may have a different application deadline and will be awarding their own TAs and/or RAs.
