Established in 1804, Ohio University is a premier public research university, the oldest university in Ohio and the tenth oldest public university in the US. It is ranked 1st among the best value public universities in Ohio and 33rd nationally according to the 2020 U.S. News and World Report rankings. The university is also ranked 1st among universities offering the best online courses in the state for the 2020-21 academic year and 2nd nationally for the most beautiful campus quad. In addition, OHIO is ranked 21st among college best buys according to the Fiske Guide to Colleges. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and classified as “R2: Doctoral Universities - High research activity”.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Located in Athens, Ohio University offers top-notch education on its residential campus and five regional campuses through extension centres and campuses. The university offers over 250 majors, minors and certificate programs across 13 colleges and schools dedicated to a wide range of fields such as arts and sciences, fine arts, business, engineering and technology, health sciences and professions, communication, international students, education among others. With a student-faculty ratio of 16:1, each student at OHIO gets undivided attention from its highly-skilled and experienced faculty. The university also boasts over 550 student organisations, over 3 million print and electronic volumes in its Alden Library, seven on-campus galleries, and more.

Accomplishments & Alumni

OHIO has over 260,000 living alumni who have made their mark and been recognised for their contributions to a wide variety of fields. One former student of Ohio University, Sir Venkatraman Ramakrishnan is a recipient of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and other notable alumni include the U.S. Senator for Ohio, George Voinovich; the  first graduate of the university, Thomas Ewing, to name a few. According to records, the Scripps College of Communication has taught a total of 49 Pulitzer Prize winners. Meanwhile, OHIO has not had a tuition and fee increase in over four years, taking the guesswork out of college budgeting for all students.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

International students at Ohio University represent 116 countries, from China to India, Canada, Ghana and Saudi Arabia. Every year, students of OHIO are given the opportunity to study, learn and volunteer across six continents. For a third year in a row, Ohio University won the 2020 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Waard from INSIGHT. It is also the 2018 winner of the National Excellence Award for Career Services Excellence by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Among the top employers that have hired Ohio University graduates include Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Credit Suisse, Societe Generale, Guggenheim Securities, and PNC.
