The University of Rhode Island (URI) is a public research university founded in 1892 with its campus in Kingston, Rhode Island. The University of Rhode Island got its accreditation from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The Commission is also recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a reliable authority on the quality of education the institute provides. New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) have also accredited the University of Rhode Island. The U.S. News & World Report ranks the University tied for 166th among 399 "national universities" and has also tied for 79th position out of 146 among "top public schools" in its 2020 edition.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The URI campus is rural and is spread across 1245 acres of land. Its campus is located in the village of Kingston in southern Rhode Island. The university offers bachelor degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees in 80 undergraduate and 49 graduate areas for the study. As a major research university known by its innovation and big thinking, URI offers its undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with various educational opportunities. These are designed to meet the challenges of today’s world globally and also the rapidly evolving needs of tomorrow. The most popular majors at the University of Rhode Island include Registered Nursing or Registered Nurse, Psychology, Speech Communication, Rhetoric, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, and Human Development and Family Studies.
Accomplishments & Alumni
The University building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. Also, URI has 17 club sports teams which consist of around 600 athletes. It also has more than 300 student organizations and clubs which majorly includes marching band, the Marine Science Society, SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Alliance), Ether (bound), Anime Club, and musicians guild. Notable Alumni are Lincoln Almond, Robert Crandall, Robert Ballard, Bob White and many more.

The University of Rhode Island has an enrollment of 14,653 undergraduate students, 1,982 graduate students, and 1,339 non-degree students. The gender distribution is 44% male students and 56% female students. The University of Rhode Island reports having a total of 529 international students on campus, 227 of whom are undergraduates making it a perfect platform for students coming from all across the globe.
