The University of Arkansas was founded in 1871 as a land grant institution in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It is also referred to as the U of A. It is a public research university and the flagship of the University of Arkansas System. The university is accredited to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The University of Arkansas is one of the top-ranked universities in the United States. U of A encourages ideas and innovations to find solutions for real-world problems. Its collaboration with organisations around the globe makes it an academically and economically strong university. The QS World University Ranking of the University of Arkansas ranges between 1001-1200.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The University of Arkansas campus is located in the hilly northwest corner of Arkansas. The aesthetic environment in and around the campus makes it an apt place for studying and living. The countrys most spectacular hiking trails are within a short distance of campus. The city of Fayetteville is one of the best places to live in the United States. U of A has 10 Schools & Colleges to offer more than 210 academic programs. The courses offered include 99 Undergraduate Majors, 91 Masters degree programs, 36 Doctoral and specialist programs and 33 graduate certificate programs.

The University of Arkansas is recognized for the world-class academic programs and aesthetic environment it provides to its students. U of A has been ranked among the top 3 per cent of universities in the United States that has the highest level of research activity by the Carnegie Foundation. The University of Arkansas recognises alumni for their achievements and their services to the university and community. Some of the notable alumni of the University of Arkansas are General manager of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League- Jerry Jones. Singer-songwriter Ben Rector, Major League Baseball Cy Young Award winner- Cliff Lee to name a few.

The University of Arkansas has more than 27,000 students who represent 50 states in the US and more than 120 countries. Student to faculty ratio at U of A is 19: 1. U of A has a separate Career Services Office to provide students with complete career services support. The services offered include individualized career counselling, career options guidance, Job-search skills workshops, resume writing and interviewing skills. The university also conducts on-campus interviews and job fairs through which several employers connect with students to find the most suitable candidates for the job role.
