SUNY Geneseo is a premier residential highly selective public liberal arts college in Geneseo, New York, and was established in 1871. It is part of the SUNY system. SUNY Geneseo itself is accredited institution by the MSCHE while it has got AACSB for business school, certification from American Chemical Society for Bachelor in Chemistry, and NCATE for School of Education programmes. As per the leading ranking agency U.S. News & World Report, SUNY—Geneseo's ranking in the 2020 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities North, #14.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Spread across 220 acres in the Village of Geneseo and at a short driving distance from Rochester and Buffalo, Geneseo offers a hospitable environment for higher education and discovery. The campus is amalgamation of the creativity of Northeastern colleges with brick walkways, shade trees, and ivy-draped buildings.The university offers 50 undergraduate degree programs, 25 interdisciplinary minors, and graduate programs in accounting and education through the School of Business and the School of Education. The total student population is 1,643 comprising 1,343 Undergraduate:, 246 Transfers and 54 Graduate. The most popular majors are social Sciences; Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Psychology; Biological and Biomedical Sciences; and Education.
Accomplishments & Alumni
Amongst many laurels the university is proud of, one of them is to provide 3,336 internships through Geneseo's Dept. of Career Development itself ensuring essential exposure during pursuing academic degrees. On the academic front, Geneseo is one of only 286 four-year colleges in the nation to have a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the most prestigious honor society in the United States. It is a leader in providing Physics as a degree as it has been rated as America’s top producers of bachelor’s degrees in physics, according to the American Institute of Physics. Moreover, SUNY Geneseo was recently Awarded a grant by the National Science Foundation’s Division of Astronomical Sciences to support a collaborative undergraduate research project on understanding stellar structure. On the sports front, Eleven teams competed in NCAA Championships. Some of the popular alumni are Chelsea Noble, Phil Boyle, Paula Miller, Mike Randall, Dannah Phirman, Rudy Rucker, Jackie Norris, Joe Morelle to name a few.

SUNY Geneseo represents a diverse classroom setting owing to the fact that out of 5,541, 20.4% of students are multicultural, and represent 28 states, and 23 countries. Though SUNY Geneseo is a liberal arts university, its graduates are well placed in New York and outside. Some of the companies specific to Geneseo county where students get employment are Walmart, Morgan Estates, Arkema, Staples, Starbucks, Mcdonalds, Subway, and Genesee Valley Federal Credit Union.
