Abilene Christian University came into existence with the idea to start a school in West Texas. It started as Childers Classical Institute in 1906 and in 1920 its name was changed to Abilene Christian College. Currently, it is governed by the Board of Trustees made up of members of Churches of Christ. The University is an accredited member of the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Since 1976, the name is Abilene Christian University. According to US News, Abilene Christian University ranked #12 in Regional University West (tie), #4 Best Undergraduate Teaching (tie).

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The University offers undergraduate and graduate courses in Arts & Science, Biblical Studies, Business Administration, Education & Human Services, and Nursing. ACU Police headquarters is on-campus court, which looks after the safety of students and other associates within the campus. Popular majors include accounting, Marketing/Marketing Management, Psychology, Nursing, and Fitness Administration/Management.

Accomplishments & Alumni 

ACU graduates who apply to medical, dental, and veterinary schools have been accepted at twice the national average for the past 10 years. Notable Alumni of Abilene Christian University include John Layfield (professional Wrestler, WWE), April Anthony (CEO of Homecare Homebase), Gordon Bethune (CEO of Continental Airlines).
