Dominican University (DU) is a Catholic university. It is situated  in River Forest, Illinois. DU has been affiliated with the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters. The university has received the accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission to grant bachelor and master degree programmes. Dominican University comes at 155th place in the list of best colleges for Anthropology and sociology. It is also considered one of the best catholic colleges in the US. The university is ranked at 224th position in US Rankings 2020 by Times Higher Education.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The school started in 1848 and became a college in 1901. The main campus of the university is just 10 miles from downtown Chicago. It is situated in the 30 acre land in suburban River Forest. There is an art gallery, a chapel and a computer technology center inside the university campus. There are more than 40 undergraduate programmes and many pre professional programmes are offered by the university. There are five academic blocks: the School of Information Studies (SOIS), the Brennan School of Business, the School of Education, School of Social Work, and the School of Professional Continuing Studies.

Accomplishments & Alumni

The Alumni group of the university includes 29000 members. The University also awards its alumni every year and gives them the opportunity to stay connected through their strong alumni network. DU also offers many on and off campus networking opportunities and events. Its career management webinars are excellent opportunities for the students to enhance their job skills. The alumni also have access to the same online career development resources, which they could access as students.Prominent alumni include Mary Isabel Yu, Associate Justice of the Washington Supreme Court, Manuel Flores, Director of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, and Przemyslaw Terminski, Senator of Poland. 

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

DU welcomes students from all over the world and has a student faculty ratio of 10 to 1. Approximately 33% of the undergraduate students are male and  67 are women. Being the alma mater of many international politicians, Dominican University has students from more than 17 countries attending the institution. It also provides support and assistance to international students in the matters of  visas, I-20s, SEVIS transfers, F-1 benefits and all other related immigration issues. Students earn an average of 48,000 US dollars after the completion of their degree. The Career Planning department of the university helps students in preparing for the real world and arranges various job fairs on and off campus. Prominent organisations in the area include Costco Wholesale, Trader Joe's, Microsoft, Southwest Airlines, Salesforce.com.
