The Ivy League college - Dartmouth College is situated in Hanover, New Hampshire of the United States. Founded in 1769, Dartmouth College is the ninth-oldest institute in the United States offering higher education. The college has been accredited by CIHE (the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education) and NEASC (the New England Association of Schools and Colleges). This private university is the birthplace of the Dartmouth BASIC: the original version of the BASIC programming language. 

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Dartmouth College offers undergraduate programmes in the fields of Engineering, Sciences, and Arts. The graduate programmes in the college are offered under four different highly ranked Schools, namely the Geisel School of Medicine, Thayer School of Engineering, Tuck School of Business and Frank J. Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies. Currently, there are more than 4,500 undergraduate and up to 2,500 graduate students studying at Dartmouth College. Being an Ivy League college and high on demand, the admissions to Dartmouth are highly competitive with an acceptance rate of 7.9%. The main campus of Dartmouth College is spread over an area of 269 acres and provides excellent facilities to all students. The lush green campus has all amenities for its students including wellness centres, sports facilities, accommodation, and a premises that is technically advanced.

With a great diversity amongst its students, Dartmouth College has 31% international students from more than 50 different countries. Due to Dartmouth College’s excellent faculty and the quality education it provides, it has always been hitting the top spot in achievements as well as rankings. According to the U.S. News & World Report, Dartmouth College was ranked as the 11th best national university for undergraduate programmes. In both, the national universities ranking and liberal arts college, the college was ranked at the 9th position by Forbes’ 2019 college rankings. For about 250 years of its existence, the college has earned a long list of well-distinguished alumni that are known for their devotion and dedication to the college. 

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

Being one of the leading colleges globally and offering admission to brilliant students across the globe, Dartmouth College ensures that it maintains diversity in its student body in several ways. Students of colour comprise 38 per cent of the total undergraduate population of Darthmouth College whereas 10 per cent of the same strength consists of international students. There are 23 per cent graduate students of colour and 27 per cent international graduate students at the institute. Dartmouth College promotes diversity on its campus and the students get to learn from each other’s culture.

Covid-19 Response

Dartmouth's plan for the 2021-22 academic year has been chalked out keeping in mind the health and safety of students, staff and faculty. It is following a five-phase reopening plan with its focus on bringing the functioning of the institution back to normal.

  • All students who will be on campus in Fall 2021 should be fully vaccinated. Students should submit their vaccination proof to the Dartmouth College Health Service’s medical records team.

  • According to the current plan, the university will be conducting some in-person coursework following public health guidelines, more remote work and limited academic and small group gatherings.

  • Dartmouth has established quarantine and testing guidelines for arrival as there are close personal interactions between students living in residence halls, staff working together in the classroom and so on. 

  • International students who are coming to the US in new/initial SEVIS status and were not in active SEVIS status on March 9, 2020, will not be allowed to be enrolled in a study program that is fully online.

  • All international students will have to participate in arrival quarantine. For them, classes will be available remotely during the beginning of the term.

  • With the success of the vaccine rollout in the country, Dartmouth College has decided to increase on-campus activities starting June 1, with full access to all campus resources on August 1.
