US Embassy to Process Indian Student Visa Applications from June 14, 2021, for Fall 2021 Semester

In a move to expedite student travel in time for the Fall 2021 semester, the US Embassy has tweeted that it will begin to process visa applications of Indian students from June 14, 2021. With the processing of Indian student visas considered a top priority for the US, the US Embassy will open limited appointments at posts across India.

The limited July and August student visa appointments in India will begin on June 14, 2021. Students may visit ustraveldocs.com to find availability of appointments and schedule one.

Those who are new aspirants may review their start date of I-20 program before coming in for the visa interview. Students beginning their program on or after August 1, 2021 may fly to the US up to 30 days before the start date of the program and not have to submit a national interest exception request.

Continuing students can resume the program they are enrolled in on or after August 1 and travel to the US 30 days before the date of resumption. The US Embassy said that they would not be able to expedite results for fall 2021 students who have appointments in July or August. In case the appointment date leads to a late start of the program, students may discuss it with their respective schools.

Students that fall in this category may keep themselves posted through the official website of the US Embassy (ustraveldocs.com). They may also get in touch with the staff on 1-888-407-4747 from the US or 1-202-501-4444 from India, in case they have further questions.

Students must make sure that they have a negative Covid-19 test report taken not less than 72 hours of travel to the US. The US Mission will also extend the validity of US visa fee payment until September 30, 2022, in order to let students attend a visa appointment with the fee they have already paid.
