As per the latest statistics by UCAS, the UKs shared admissions service for higher education shows that a record number of undergraduate applicants have applied from two key international markets - India and China- in UK universities. They are expected to join courses in September 2022.
The recent deadline, that is in January, applications received from India through UCAS to start undergraduate courses in Britain this September spiked by 11 per cent year-on-year to at least 8,660 applicants, as compared to 7,830 in 2021. It has almost doubled in the last two years. India, today, stands as the second-largest non-EU market for higher education in Britain, after China, which witnessed 28,930 applications this year.

For most of the courses, an application is required to be submitted to UCAS by the deadline of January 26to make sure that it will receive equal consideration by universities for 2022 entry. However the applications can be submitted after this date, but at the same time, these are subject to the availability of seats and places.
On this development, UCAS International MD Des Cutchey said that the record figure of India for undergraduate courses is impressive and a pretty good indication of how foreign countries are viewing Britain as a reliable higher education destination.
He further added that the application number hiked for nursing coursesfrom India and the same has been witnessed in the UK as well towards the field after the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic.
