According to the latest update, candidates who were waiting to apply for a US student visa can now schedule an appointment starting in mid-May for interviews in June.
The announcement was made by the US Consulate General Hyderabad via their official Twitter handle.
They tweeted, "Student Visas: Mission India issued a record number of student visas last year- 62,000", adding that they are looking forward to interviewing more students this year. Further, they announced that the appointments will start opening in mid-May for interviews starting in June. Earlier in mid-April, a bipartisan congressional delegation of US lawmakers landed in Hyderabad to visit the Tata-Boeing and Lockheed Martin facilities, emphasising the significance of Telangana in the aerospace and defence industry.
The legislators also had a meeting with leaders of top US firms and visited the USD 300 million new consulate compound in Nanakaramguda.
Meanwhile, the minister-counsellor for consular affairs at the US embassy in Delhi, Donald L Heflin had announced that the best time for Indian candidates to get their visa approved is the first interview this year.
However, he added that this can only be done by blocking students who refused a US visa for the first time.
Heflin made this announcement in a 30-minute Facebook live video, where he was heard saying that applicants with F-1 student visas from India have a good chance to get their visa approved this year, in the first interview. While the chances of getting refused on a second or third interview are high.
