The University of Denver is a private research-based university that was founded in 1864. It is the oldest independent university in the United States based in the Rocky Mountain Region. The main campus of the university was located in the main city of Denver but relocated later on to the South of Downtown Core due to rough and tumble frontier town atmosphere which was not suited for education. The University of Denver is ranked 97 as ‘National University’ as per the US News and World Report 2020. The undergraduate business programs at the Daniels Business School is ranked at 71 by US News and 87 by BusinessWeek. 

The University of Denver is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. Programs at the Graduate School of Professional Psychology are accredited by the American Psychological Association. This organization provides continuing education for all psychologists and promotes adherence to professional development programs and opportunities.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The longest-standing building is University Hall, which has served DU since 1890 and was built in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. The Sturm College of Law has a 3-storey library with computers accessible to students. Denver is the capital of Colorado. It is considered as one of the most populous municipalities of the U.S. state of Colorado. The most popular majors at the University of Denver include Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Social Sciences; Psychology; Biological and Biomedical Sciences; and Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs.

Accomplishments & Alumni

The athletic team at DU is known as the Denver Pioneers. It has been fielding athletic teams since 1867. It has won 33 NCAA Division One titles. Denver is the best major power in winter sports including skiing and ice hockey. Prominent alumni of the institution include Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, CEO of Platinum Studios, Ian Ivarson, founder of IVAR backpacks and bags, Elrey Jeppesen, founder of Jeppesen and Co., owned by Boeing and Peter Morton, founder - Hard Rock Cafe chain.

The university has a total of 5758 undergraduate enrollment. It has 46% male and 54% female students. International students from 81 countries are currently enrolled at the University of Denver which makes it a popular destination for foreign students.
