Gannon University was founded in 1925 as Gannon College of Arts and Sciences. In 1944, it was renamed Gannon College. Initially, it was a four-year men’s college. Later, in 1964, Gannon established a graduates school and became a co-educational institute. The college attained university status in 1979 and is affiliated with the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) and the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC). The private catholic school is ranked 227th in the 2022 Best National Universities ranking and 129th in Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs list by the U.S News & World Report. I
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The main campus of Gannon University is located in downtown Erie and the other vibrant campus is in Ruskin, Florida that mainly focuses on courses in the field of healthcare. Inspired by the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, the university offers a unique learning experience through its 150+ student clubs/organisations, 24 varsity sports, residential facilities, among others. Gannon has three main colleges namely the College of Engineering and Business, College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences and Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences. In total, it offers 66 bachelor's degrees, 9 pre-professional programs, 33 cooperative professional school options, 6 associate's degrees, 27 master's degrees and 6 doctoral degrees.

The Gannon University Alumni Association connects alumni with each other as well as keeps them engaged with the university. Their purpose is also to help the university meet the strategic plans and mission of the university.
