Florida International University is the first and only public research university in Miami, Florida which was established in 1965. It is the largest university of south Florida, according to the number of students that are enrolled every year at the university. The university has two major campuses namely, Modesto A. Maidique Campus that expands over an area of 342 acres and Biscayne Bay Campus covering an area of 200 acres.Florida International University (FIU) is ranked among the top 1000 universities in the world. The QS World University Ranking 2021 of Florida International University is between 751 - 800.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The university offers bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in various disciplines includingmedical and law. It offers more than 190 degree options to the students. Every year, a total of 54000 students are enrolled under various courses at the university. More than 3800 students are international students and are mainly from countries like China, Venezuela, India, Colombia, Saudi Arabia and Brazil. It is thus among the top 10 largest universities of the country. The university is known to offer the best business programme in the country. It was awarded the Best Colleges Business Programs 2014, according to US News & World Report.

Freshman Merit Students Scholarship

Merit-based scholarships are offered to students who have outstanding academic credentials and test scores in previous qualifications and academic studies. There are different types of merit-based scholarships and to receive the award, the student must search for the most suitable scholarship for themselves and apply for it. They must apply for merit-based scholarship as early as possible to be shortlisted for the award.

Following are the merit-based scholarships offered to the international students who are enrolled in for undergraduate courses at Florida International University:

Presidential Premier

Presidential Premier is a merit-based scholarship offered to students enrolled in undergraduate courses at Florida International University. The eligibility criteria that a student must fulfil to receive Presidential Premier award is as follows:

  • Must have completed Senior High School studies before entering FIU in Early Fall/ Fall 2021.

  • Must have scored a minimum GPA of 4.0

  • Must have at least SAT score 1370 or ACT score 30 scorecard.

  • International students must have received the F-1 visa to study in the United States.

  • The student must have applied for admission at FIU before January 15, 2021.

Value of Scholarship

The scholarship covers 100% tuition fees and book stipend

Application Deadline

The scholarship deadline for the 2021 Term is January 31, 2021.

Ambassador Premier

Ambassador Premier is another merit-based scholarship for international students at Florida International University. The student must meet the following eligibility criteria to receive Ambassador Premier Scholarship:

  • Must complete Senior High School studies before entering FIU in Early Fall/ Fall 2021.

  • Must have scored a minimum GPA of 4.0

  • Must have minimum SAT score 1280 or ACT score 27.

  • Must have received the F-1 visa to study in the United States.

  • Must have applied to FIU before January 15, 2021.

Value of Scholarship

The scholarship covers 75% tuition fees and book stipend

Application Deadline

The scholarship deadline for the 2021 Term is January 31, 2021.

How to Apply for Merit-Based Scholarship at Florida International University?

Students must submit a complete scholarship application to be considered for merit-based scholarship. The online application can be accessed on the FIU scholarship search page. The applicant will have to create an account and login to the account using the username and password to apply.

Along with the application, the student will also have to submit two letters of recommendation by the scholarship application deadline date.

FIU National Merit Finalist

It is a reward offered to students who are selected by the National Merit Corporation as a National Merit Finalist. 

The scholarship covers 100% tuition fees and accommodation costs. The students also receive  Laptop (with a demonstration of financial need).

The student must be admitted to FIU before January 15, 2021, to receive the award. 

Deadline 

The student must apply at the National Merit Scholarship corporation website before May 1st and select  FIU as the No. 1 choice university.

Chapman Graduate School International Student Assistance & Scholarships

The Chapman Graduate School of Business offers a limited number to international students which is funded jointly by the graduate department and corporations. Most scholarships are awarded in the summer.

The amount of scholarship offered varies depending on the qualification of the recipient. To be considered for the scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled in a degree programme at the college.

Those who wish to receive this scholarship must contact the concerned head of the graduate programme department.
