Overview

History, Affiliations & Rankings   Drexel University, founded by Anthony J. Drexel, was established as Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry in 1891. It acquired the status of a university in 1970, prior to which, it was known as the Drexel Institute of Technology since 1936. The private research university is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and affiliated with organisations such as AITU, NAICU, among others. As per the US News and World Report 2021 edition, it is ranked 133rd among the national universities in the United States and 387th among universities worldwide. According to QS World University Rankings 2022, the university stands firm within the range of 651-700 among top global universities.   Infrastructure, Campus & Courses   Drexel University has four different campuses namely, Philadelphia Campus, Center City Campus, the Queen Lane Campus, and the Academy of Natural Sciences. Another site for the College of Medicine is under construction in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Drexel offers over 80 undergraduate majors and more than 120 graduate programs. The academic programmes offered at Drexel University help students acquire skills, knowledge and practical concepts. Classes are taught by experienced faculty who have in-depth knowledge of the field. The university is welcoming towards international students and has 18% of international students coming from six different continents. The Student Center for Diversity and Inclusion engages Drexel's LGBTQIA, AHALANA and international student bodies through direct advocacy. It has the maximum percentage of international students attending the university in the entire State System.
