Founded in 1947, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is part of the Texas A&M System. Located on the Gulf of Mexico and the cultural border with Latin America, the university is a premier institution for higher education. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees to students. It is the only university in the nation to be located on its own islands at the heart of the Texas Gulf Coast and hence also referred to as ‘Island University’.
