Considered as a world-known Institute for Science and Engineering education, California Institute of Technology or Caltech is situated in Pasadena, California. Founded in the year 1891 by Amos G. Throop as a preparatory and vocational school, Caltech became the centre of attraction during the Second World War. In the early 20th century, Caltech became a US scientific research powerhouse, which laid the foundation for many of today’s high-tech facilities. It is a private research university and has been ranked 5th on the QS World University Rankings 2020. CalTech is affiliated to Association of American Universities in addition to University Research Association, Association of Pacific Rim Universities and Association of Independent Technological Universities.

California Institute of Technology is a reputed institution in the field of engineering and technology. It is an educational establishment that attracts some of the most talented engineering aspirants from around the world. In addition, it offers a range of majors in the fields of computer science, physics and humanities. The 124 acre Caltech campus is known for its rich campus life where students indulge in various social activities, associations, clubs and recreational facilities. The CalTech campus offers some of the most advanced learning and research facilities for students and faculty. The Caltech sports team called the ‘Caltech Beavers’ regularly competes in various Intercollegiate sports activities.

It has till date produced 38 Nobel Laureates, 58 National Medal of Science Recipients, 13 National Medal of Technology and Innovation recipients and 127 National Academies Members.

At 3:1, the student faculty-ratio of Caltech is one of the lowest in the entire United States. Currently, over 1,000 undergraduate and 1,250 graduate students from around the world are nurtured to become creative society members under the guidance of 300 faculty members.
