In a bid to provide employers with skilled and qualified graduates, the University of Essex Online announced all-new continuous professional development (CPD) micro-credentials. The motive of the standalone modules is to provide students with industry-relevant skills and knowledge, with the added bonus of online learning.
As per the press release published by the university, the CPD microcredential modules are taken from full Level 7 postgraduate courses, allowing students to gain qualifications within 13 weeks. Further, the modules offer an affordable opportunity to students looking to enhance their resumes while gaining industry-relevant skills. Moreover, the modules will remain updated with the latest emerging trends.
In a similar fashion to other University of Essex online courses, Kaplan Open Learning will be offering the new modules in partnership with the university. On completion of the course, graduates will receive a certificate from the University of Essex, wherein the mode of study will only be mentioned on the transcript.
The Managing Director at Kaplan Open Learning, Ms Nicola Pittman, commented on the launch of the microcredential modules. She stated that the “Microcredentials will provide a much-needed springboard towards their chosen goals.” As per the latest trends, employers often choose recruits with essential skills to do the job efficiently. Adding to her statements, she highlighted that the modules include health, business and computing portfolios to be studied as standalone qualifications. Thus, allowing graduates to instil the lacking skills and witness a progressing career.
Mr David Dixon, the Academic Director at Kaplan Open Learning, highlights his thoughts on the importance of upskilling in today’s world. He highlighted that the University of Essex Online’s CPD Microcredentials will facilitate great advantage to the working professional as the new modules will help them prepare for the future while keeping at the top of their game, thus resulting in a better and stronger CV. Additionally, these working professionals will be able to take such career-driven courses from the comfort of their homes.
Unlike traditional courses, the courses offered by the University of Essex Online have start dates throughout the year. In other words, students will be able to choose when they wish to start their courses. Concluding the press release, the university highlighted the “impressive virtual learning environment, combined with quality teaching through the latest technology” used to deliver top-class courses.
