The University of Birmingham's new campus in Dubai was inaugurated by the crown prince of Dubai. The campus is the smartest campus that aims to provide valuable education to students.

Latest Update (April 22, 2022):Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai inaugurated the worlds smartest campus of the University of Birmingham in Dubai. World-class digital and physical experience along with cutting-edge technology will be provided on the campus.

The chancellor of the University of Birmingham, Lord Karan Bilimoria was excited to share the prospects this university has to offer to the students. He calls the campus the most modern technologically advanced campus in the world. The campus is an exciting innovation that was only possible through the collaboration of the government of Dubai, the University of Birmingham and businesses like Siemens. Gradually this campus with state of art facilities will start accepting international students from across the globe.

About 2,900 students can be supported through this campus and cross-disciplinary working will be encouraged through teaching and research. The partnership with Siemens led to the introduction of digital sensor and analytical technologies, artificial intelligence, decentralized energy generation and storage and renewable energy which contribute to making Dubai's campus, the smartest campus.

There are 23,000 IoT (Internet of Things) centres to make the space energy efficient. They aim to create living labs where learning, teaching and research will benefit from access to new data and connectivity. Data is being used for teaching and research purposes.

Mohamed Abdullah, managing director of Dubai International Academic City, calls the opening of this university, another milestone. It is a part of Dubais plan to develop into a knowledge-based economy. The government of Dubai provides excellent opportunities from primary to higher education and it aims to attract students from all over the world to study here.

There are 27 academic institutions in the International Academic City ranging from higher educational institutions to vocational institutions with 27,000 students across 50 nationalities. Abdullah also talks about retaining the talents who come to Dubai to add value to the overall development of the country.

(September 6, 2021): The University of Birmingham is all set to open a new campus in Dubai to offer the same internationally-recognized degree certificates offered in the UK. The new campus will be welcoming international students including from India with a merit-based scholarship of up to 40% across undergraduate and postgraduate levels from September 2021.

The institution had announced in 2017 that it would open a campus in Dubai in the international education hub.

Professor David Sadler, Provost University of Birmingham Dubai said that the new building will be an intelligent campus offering cutting-edge technology, flexibility leading to innovation and multidisciplinary teaching and learning. Colleagues coming from the Birmingham campus to teach in Dubai would immediately be at home in our teaching spaces.

The state-of-the-art campus will be established in Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) and will provide a modern academic home capable of adapting to changes in learning, technology and the climate.

The university will also allow students to gain the skills and expertise sought by top employers in the current global marketplace.
