London Universities Witness Significant Rise in Number of Indian Students

As per the latest data released by HESA, the number of Indian student’s enrollment at various universities in London has increased upto 87% amidst the pandemic.

London Universities Witness Significant Rise in Number of Indian Students

While most universities abroad are facing challenges in terms of the admission process and enrollment of international students amidst the pandemic, London universities have seen a massive growth in the number of international studentenrollment. As per the latest data released by theHigher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), there is an 87 per cent rise in the number of Indian studentenrollment. The total number of international students at the universities of London has risen to 8.4 per cent.

Last year, the number of Indian students enrolled at various universities in London were 7185, while this year this number has been increased to 13,435, which is a major accomplishment for the country. The overall data shows that 55,465 Indian students are enrolled across various institutions in the UK and majority of them are enrolled in England followed by Scotland, Wales and NorthernIreland.

The UK is one of the leading countries for higher education and it has always been the centre of attraction for students, especially from India. In 2019-20 London became the second-largest international market in the UK for higher education. First-class education, cultural experiences, the country's economy and opportunities available for international students are some of the reasons why the UK is a world leader for higher education.

Lalage Clay, Director of Education and Talent at London and Partners says that the new figures confirm the reputation of higher education institutes in London at an international level. She further said that thejob opportunities in the UK for international students and the options for Indian students to stay in the UK for two years post studies are the strong reasons why the universities based out of London have seen such a massive increase in the number of Indian studentenrollment.
