List of Government Scholarships in France for Indian Students

Several scholarships, grants, and bursaries are available to Indian students from the French government. Check the eligibility and application procedure, as well as additional facts, before applying to any of these scholarships.

List of Government Scholarships in France for Indian Students

Every year, the French Embassy in India, in collaboration with French companies, awards scholarships of up to 12 crore Indian rupees to over 500 deserving young Indian students who want to study in France. Indian students with strong academic records have a variety of financing and scholarship alternatives for studying in France.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 1003 Indian students will be studying in France in 2022. This European country boasts prestigious universities. The French government offers numerous scholarships for Indian or foreign students in order to attract outstanding individuals and encourage them to follow their ambitions of higher education.

The French Foreign Ministry provides several scholarships to international students. The Government directly funds 25% of these scholarships through the Eiffel (postgraduate's or PhD level study) or major-level programmes (for the top international students who have graduated from French institutes across the world). The French colleges provide over 100 different scholarship schemes (including programmes for PhD and post-doctoral levels).

The Charpak Scholarship Programme

Charpak is a French government scholarship programme in India, which is administered by the French Embassy in India. The show is named after Georges Charpak (1924 - 2010). In 1992, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work as a French scientist. The Charpak scholarship programme provides four forms of support for undergraduate and graduate studies

Raman Charpak Fellowship for PhD

The Raman - Charpak Fellowship is awarded by the French Embassy in India, the Government of India's Department of Science and Technology (DST), and the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. It intends to give Indian and French students the chance to conduct part of their study at a university or research institute in France or India. French and Indian citizens who are registered for a PhD at a recognised university/institution in their respective countries are eligible to apply.

La Femis

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development of France, in collaboration with La Fémis, annually offer a summer programme aimed at students of international cinema and television, as well as young film industry professionals, who want who wish to further their practical and theoretical skills in documentary filmmaking in France. The summer programme lasts 9 weeks and consists of rigorous courses 5 days a week. It can only accommodate a maximum of 15 students from the following countries: North Africa, Africa, Chile, Russia, India, Iran, Afghanistan, and Egypt.

The French Embassy in India is offering a two-month grant to one Indian student to attend this summer residence programme in France. The awardee receives a monthly stipend, a return ticket to France, medical insurance coverage, and other benefits.

Eiffel Scholarship Programme of Excellence

This Scholarship is given to the brightest foreign students by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and International Development through Campus France Paris. The University/Institution applies for the scholarship on behalf of the student. The scholarship programme is only available for masters and doctoral-level programmes. The honorees get a monthly stipend of EUR 1,181 (master's degree) or EUR 1,400 (PhD), plus an allowance for living expenses.

Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA)

MEAE or the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and MESRI or the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation provide the MOPGA scholarship to overseas students who intend to pursue a master's degree programme at a French university in a particular field of study. Indian candidates are eligible for a master's degree scholarship.

Scholarships for French Language Teachers

Scholarships are available from the French Institute in India and the Embassy of France for French language instructors teaching in Indian schools and universities. These scholarships are intended to offer educators the chance to develop and update teaching approaches for teaching French as a foreign language in the Indian environment.

The ERASMUS+ Mobility Scholarships 

Erasmus + is a European Union programme that promotes education, training, youth development, and sports. The Erasmus Mundus joint programme offers a programme that provides scholarships to the top students in the globe for one or two years, independent of their subject of study. To get one, these students must complete their master's degree in at least two of the program's participating nations. Numerous French higher education institutions offer combined Master's programmes.

Erasmus+ grants mobility scholarships from and to France through bilateral agreements between institutes of higher education. They pay for living and accommodation expenses.
