Ghent University, Belgium is offering scholarship to PhD students from developing countries who are enrolled in any research area of study. The scholarship is funded by its 'Special Research Fund'(BOF) and will be offered to only outstanding students.
The scholarship will be offered to students who wish to complete half of the PhD course from Ghent University and rest from any other university in a developing country (South). Only those parts of the research programme that the student will complete from Ghent University will be covered in the scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria to Apply for Ghent University PhD Scholarship
The candidate must belong to a developing country that includes India.
The scholarship proposal must be submitted jointly by the candidate, a supervisor at Ghent University and a supervisor from the other partner university from where the student will complete the other half of the course.
Students enrolled in any field of research can apply. However, the course that involves development will be given preference.
Only those students who are enrolled in a degree PhD programme are eligible for the scholarship. No exchange student will be considered for scholarship.
Co-financing is required i.e there must be an approval from a PhD supervisor partner university. He/ She must give a written statement stating that the student will receive a full-time local PhD scholarship for 24 months for completing the part of PhD programme from the partner university.
Students who will be receiving the scholarship to complete the scholarship can use up to only 10% of their time for teaching or other tasks so that they can completely focus on the PhD course.

How to Apply for Ghent University PhD Scholarship 2021?
Candidates interested in applying for Ghent University PhD Scholarship must submit the application in the word document via email at the OFapplication@ugent.be.
Along with the application, the supervisor must send the following documents:
The opinion by the supervisor about the candidate and his abilities to complete the research work.

Value of Ghent University PhD Scholarship 2021
The eligible candidates receive 310/per month of research in Ghent University and 8000 to cover travel costs and operational costs. To receive the scholarship, the student must complete 3 - 12 months of scholarship in Ghent and the programme from start between October 1, 2021 and February 28, 2022.
At least 24 months of locally funded research stay in the partner university (South) must be scheduled between the first and last research stay in Ghent.
